Guterres condemns Israel's killing of Palestinians while waiting for aid

United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres condemned Israel’s killing of Palestinians who were waiting for aid, which led to the death of more than 100 people and the injury of more than 700 others.

This came in a press conference held by United Nations spokesman Stephane Dujarric, on Thursday.

Dujarric added, “The Secretary-General condemns the incident that occurred in northern Gaza, w

hich resulted in the death of more than 100 people as they sought to obtain life-saving aid.”

Dujarric renewed Guterres’s demand for an immediate ceasefire for humanitarian reasons in Gaza.

“Hostilities and other challenges continue to hamper our efforts to reach Gaza and provide life-saving health and food care,” he added.

Dujarric said the United Nations was aware of deaths resulting from drought and malnutrition in Gaza, and urged a comprehensive investigation.

On Thursday, Israeli occupation forces opened fire on a gathering of Palestinians who were waiting for trucks carrying aid to arrive in the “Nabulsi Roundabout” area south of Gaza City. This resulted in the killing of 112 Palestinians and the injury of 760 others, according to the Ministry of Health in the Strip
