NOVANEWS
Dear All,
Here is another one for the books! It’s not enough that the world is going to allow Israel to deport thousands of Palestinians without blinking an eye.
Now this too!
The village that the report below is about is much older than any of the colonies whose residents supposedly will be less secure without the fence than with it.
Mas’ha, the village, was a quiet farming community. But the fence cut the village off from its lands, which means that the farmers are left without anything to farm (this has occurred throughout the West Bank). At first the farmers were promised that the gates would open to allow them access to their lands 3 times a day.
But in short order, this promise was abandoned, and with it the farmers could not get to their lands, nor the shepherds and other herdsmen to the fields to feed their animals.
If you wish to know more about Mas’ha and its battle against the wall, you can find the details at www.stopthewall.org.il . There you will also learn about Hani Amer and his family. They are the people referred to below as being on the outside of the fence. There is much about Hani Amer and his family on the web. Just type his name. I have written about him several times.
Hani is an amazing person. He has bounced back from every slap that Israel has hit him with, and still remains sane and genial. He at one time had a restaurant. The Israeli military demolished it. Then he had chicken coops for several thousand chickens.
The army demolished them (not because they were on anyone’s property but his own, for heaven’s sake!). So he started a flower nursery in his garden—and guess what! Right. The army demolished it while building the fence and wall on his property. Now he and his family (father and brothers) stand to lose all their lands, which are in a village down the road: Azun Atmei, which the settlers and military are trying to choke and push out.
Hani has aged the past years, though. He is just over 40 but looks closer to 60. But then who wouldn’t after what he and his family have been through. And yet, his fate is not so different from thousands upon thousands of other human beings who happen to be Palestinians and happen to live in the West Bank!
Israel’s colonization of Palestine continues, and with the blessing of the Supreme Court! But the court, the military, and the colonists lie! Mas’ha has never been a security threat to anyone. The security threat is to the Palestinians not to the colonists! The wall has one purpose—to steal as much land as is possible.
Sickening!
Dorothy

High Court rejects Palestinian village’s petition against security fence
Justices say rerouting segment of West Bank barrier that separates village of Masha from Israeli communities will jeopardize security of local Jews
Aviad Glickman Published: 04.11.10,
The High Court of Justice rejected on Sunday a petition filed by the Palestinian village of Masha and The Association for Civil Rights in Israel (ACRI) against the construction of a segment of the West Bank security barrier near the village.
According to the ruling, the construction of the segment in question was completed seven years ago. The segment separates Masha, which is home to some 2,000 Palestinians, from the Jewish communities Elkana, Etz Efraim and Sha’arei Tikva.
The petition claimed that the fence’s route is illegal as it is based not on security concerns, but rather on a political decision to expand Israeli communities situated near the West Bank barrier in order to create territorial continuity with other parts of the State of Israel.
The petitioners further maintained that a Palestinian home remains on the Israeli side of the barrier, causing the family to be disconnecting from the rest of the village. They said the barrier also separates Masha from some 5,500 dunams (about 1,359 acres) of land owned by the Palestinian residents of the village.
The petition was filed about three years after the security barrier was erected in the area. The State claimed that rerouting the barrier would entail huge costs, adding that the barrier’s route is based on security and topographic concerns, and is meant to protect nearby Israeli communities.
The State said the Palestinian family residing on the Israeli side of the barrier [it is not the Israeli side!!!! It is part of the West Bank in Palestine!!!!] has been given a key that allows them free passage through a gate that is monitored by security cameras.
In their ruling, High Court Justices Dorit Beinish, Eliezer Rivlin and Ayala Procaccia accepted the claim that the barrier hurts the Palestinian villagers, but said rerouting the barrier would jeopardize the security of the area’s Jewish residents.
