Lebanese military says an Israeli fighter jet has penetrated the country’s airspace and flown over parts of the country in violation of a UN Security Council resolution.

The Lebanese army issued a report saying that an Israeli fighter jet crossed into the airspace over the southern village of Alma Shaab at 6:45 a.m. local time (0345 GMT) on Tuesday, a Press TV correspondent in Beirut reported on Tuesday.
The aircraft maneuvered over the area for around three hours and exited from the southern village of al-Naqoura at 10:05 a.m. local time (0705 GMT.)
Earlier, six Israeli fighter jets had also violated Lebanon’s airspace, according to the Lebanese army.
The Israeli military violates Lebanon’s airspace nearly on a daily basis, claiming that the flights serve surveillance purposes.
Lebanon’s government, the Hezbollah resistance movement and the UN Interim Force in Lebanon have repeatedly condemned the overflights, saying they are in clear violation of the United Nations Resolution 1701 and the country’s sovereignty.
The UN Security Council resolution, which brokered a ceasefire in Israel’s 2006 war on Lebanon, has called on Tel Aviv to respect Beirut’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
In 2009, Lebanon filed a complaint with the UN, submitting over 7,000 documents pertaining to Israeli violations of Lebanese territory.
