“The Jews are called human beings, but the non-Jews are not humans. They are beasts.”

Since the year 2021, a number of armed groups have emerged in the West Bank camps, with their first nucleus in the Jenin camp under the name “Jenin Brigade,” extending over the course of months and days in a state of inspiration to a number of other Palestinian cities, and beginning with them a journey that can be described as a stage of “exhaustion.” “For the Israeli occupation army.
These groups are distinguished by the fact that they do not adopt a single model of structural organizational nature, as they are closer to the nature of small, separate groups in their centralization, goals and operations, which presented a dilemma for the Israeli occupation in its ability to end their presence despite all the assassination and targeting operations that it carries out on an almost daily basis in the West Bank. .
It also does not depend on the organizational title or organizational affiliation with the Palestinian factions, but rather is closer to a state of integration that brings together those belonging to Hamas, Islamic Jihad, Fatah, and the Popular Front, and at other times young men eager for resistance work without any organizational extension, but rather united by the goal of resistance and confrontation with the occupation.
Disassembly did not work
After the second Palestinian Intifada, the Israeli occupation sought to dismantle resistance work in the West Bank, whether through arrests, assassinations, or invasions of West Bank cities and the closure of all institutions that represented an infrastructure for national and organizational work, while active leaders on the ground were absent in prisons.
This situation also intersected with many of the political programs that the United States of America worked on to flood the Palestinians in the West Bank with economic projects and mortgage their lives with jobs, and the reflection of the state of internal political division on national issues, which created a state of decline in national action in various fields.
However, this situation did not prevent the continuation of attempts to advance militant action in the West Bank, and individual acts of resistance remained present, some of which had an organizational extension, especially to the Hamas and Islamic Jihad movements and the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine.
Quantum leap
The qualitative shift in resistance work in the West Bank began to take shape in the year 2021, after the Battle of Unity of Squares in the Gaza Strip, where it formed the first nucleus representing a combination of resistance work in the West Bank under the name “Jenin Brigade,” in which resistance fighters from various organizations joined, which necessitated the occupation to begin direct assassination operations against those Members of the battalion are trying to reach them, but this has not affected its strength and performance. On the contrary, it has strengthened its presence, especially since it has not adopted a clear organizational line.
The model of the Jenin Battalion was a state of inspiration, and it moved to the old city of Nablus, where the “Lions’ Den groups” were formed, bringing together resistors from various organizations, including those from the Fatah movement who rejected the policies of the authority, Hamas, Islamic Jihad, and the Popular Front, where their appearance represented a state of expansion. Its popularity is greater, and it was able to revive the concept of struggle within a large popular base, and it worked for the first time to mobilize confidence in the popular incubator and its participation in national action through continuous calls for marches and demonstrations.
The occupation used two paths to deal with it, the first was liquidation and direct assassination, and the second was negotiation carried out by the Palestinian Authority in an attempt to provide privileges to those who wished to join the authority and leave work within the groups. However, this matter did not succeed completely, and the presence of the groups remained despite all these measures against them.
For the first time, the city of Jericho emerged as a resistance activist through the Aqabat Jabr Camp Brigade, which carried out a series of armed operations and directly targeted settlers and occupation soldiers, causing many injuries and deaths among the ranks of the occupation.

The same model, and in a more powerful and prominent way, emerged, which called itself the “Rapid Response” Battalion, as it was able to conduct a series of targeting operations against the occupation’s checkpoints, causing a number of deaths among the soldiers, and creating a state of constant anxiety for the occupation.
Multiple tactics
The means and tactics used by the armed groups in the West Bank varied. Between ambushes of the occupation forces storming Palestinian cities, these groups sought to go out to bypass roads and occupation checkpoints, carry out shooting operations, and engage in armed clashes.
In addition, what was known as “lone wolves” emerged, which were operations carried out by resistance fighters either in the West Bank against occupation targets, or entering the cities occupied in 1948 and carrying out resistance operations there that caused many deaths among the ranks of the occupation.
Constant drain
The resistance’s work in the West Bank during this stage constituted what could be called an exhaustion of the occupation forces, which summoned three battalions of its army to the West Bank, in addition to preoccupying its security and intelligence services for fear of the expansion and development of the phenomenon.
The state of exhaustion has clearly escalated in light of the war that the occupation is waging on the Gaza Strip, which has prompted the leaders of the Israeli occupation to search for how to prevent the resistance work in the West Bank from turning into a comprehensive intifada, which explains the strict measures that the occupation has initiated, including arrests and assassinations, which have escalated significantly. In the West Bank throughout the month of October.
