Dominic Cummings: Boris Johnson knows its ‘ludicrous’ he is prime minister

“He is more useless than the media portray and more capable of ruthlessness than they ever portray”

[ Editor’s Note: VT tagged Boris Johnson as a ‘goof ball’ from day one, and we do not claim a lot of credit for figuring out what was so obvious. Mass media also knew this instantly, but as has long been the case, certain countries’ heads of state are given a media pass when they have a resident goof ball. Take Donald Duck Trump for instance.

As even a broken clock can be right twice a day, Johnson must get some credit for getting through Brexit, although a lot of skillful Parliament negotiating also played a key role, and it held onto Northern Ireland and Wales.

I viewed Boris as the frat boy who never grew up, with the silly haircut, his way of saying “I don’t give a crap what I look like”. It was his fraternity prank on the English people.

He got Covid out of foolishness, the same way the Trump and his wife may have, but I don’t think he infected hundreds of his security staff like Donald. The US Congress has shamelessly left the Secret Service unprotected from another knucklehead president, where even after the Bob Woodruff interview quoting Trump saying “it spreads through the air” went public, he stood his Secret Service down on strict Covid compliance, as he did not like the optics… Jim W. Boris Johnson “regularly admits” he is unfit to be the U.K.’s prime minister, his former chief aide Dominic Cummings claimed.

Cummings — the most senior adviser in Downing Street until he left government in November 2020 — said his old boss first acknowledged it would be “ludicrous” for him to become prime minister in 2016 after the pair helped deliver a Leave vote in the Brexit referendum.

Since entering Downing Street three years later, Johnson “regularly admits it’s ludicrous he’s prime minister,” according to Cummings, who has used his Substack newsletter and a parliamentary committee session to launch multiple attacks on his former boss in recent months.

…Cummings made the comments in a blog about why he agreed to support Johnson when he entered Downing Street in 2019. The former top No. 10 aide said he knew beforehand that Johnson was “unfit” to be U.K. leader, and claimed the Conservative chief lies “so blatantly, so naturally, so regularly” while being uninterested in policy.

…“He is both much more useless than the media portray and much more capable of self-awareness and ruthlessness than they ever portray, or his enemies usually discern,” Cummings writes. “Remember, though, neither mode has any interest in either policy or governing for their own sake.”
