NOVANEWS

We declared war on the world because 3,000 of our citizens were murdered in cold blood by terrorists, costing us couple of trillion dollars and we killed directly and indirectly over a million and destroyed two countries in the process. Yet, over 52,000 of our citizens are gunned down annually and we do not declare war on guns. There is something wrong. Keep in mind we lost 55,000 over 10 years of war in Vietnam.
The mass murder and shooting that took place in Connecticut yesterday is more than 2nd Amendment and the rights to bear arms. . It has every thing to do with a culture of anger, violence, and realistic sadistic video games, bullying and hazing, over drinking and drugs, breakdown of family life. The readily availability of guns create a clear and present danger to the citizens of America, and such massive killings should not come as a surprise.
I lived in Switzerland for over 6 years and as every one knows, Switzerland has one of the largest army made mainly of people’s militia with guns, rifles and machine guns in every home. Yet one hardly ever hears of any massive killings as we have in the US. It has every thing to do with gun laws we have and the nature and culture of America.
Every time I am on my way home on I-66 turning toward Route 50 West, I pass by a large blue glass building with the NRA blazing all over the building seen from a long distance. I always wonder how many more killings should we suffer in America until members of Congress, wake up for the needs to act and act quickly and address this issue beyond campaign fund raisings, naked politics, lobbies and intimidations by the NRA
No one can deny the needs for sportsmen to have hunting rifles, but no hunter or sportsman need an automatic rifle or a submachine gun even a bazooka to enjoy the sports. No sane person needs to have machine guns for personal protection. The issue goes beyond that. We need to retire “going postal” once and for all.
It is anger, resentment, racism, hate of others, mental illness suffered by hundreds of thousands if not millions of Americans. Even our military is not immune to such criminal behavior, anger and racism. The My Lai massacre, the Falluja killing, the Ft. Hood, Texas massacre among others.
According to national reports there was a sharp rise of gun buying shortly after Barrack Obama was elected as president of the United States. This has nothing to do with 2nd. Amendment rights, it has everything to do with outright racism promoted by the certain members of right wing groups within the Republican Party and their stupid voices on Rush Limbaugh and Fox News even CNN.
In Florida legislatures passed laws that allow citizens all kind of citizens, sane and many insane, happy and too many unhappy to carry guns even walk into restaurants with guns reminding all of the Old Wild Wild West. Mass killing is not limited to criminals, the poor or the Blacks.
I really do not know what it takes for Congress to take up this issue again, and not make it a, Republican or Democratic issue but an American issue. Will it take the loss of their own children to mass gunmen for them to act? This issue is more than a left and right issue, liberal and conservative it has every thing to do with the safety and sanity of the American people.
Perhaps Congress can issue and agree on legalizations that make it mandatory for all gun holders to be members of the national militia subject to military training and discipline consistent with the vision and purpose of the 2nd Amendment.
By Googling mass killing, one is shocked by the numbers of massive killings that took place in America, and ask our self once again, will it take another loss of innocent life before we act. It is time for all of us, to revisit the issue of guns in our society and 2nd Amendment. This debate should start at home, in schools, in work place, in schools, colleges and universities ending with a final debate in Congress. And yes, let us put those members of Congress out of business. Their inaction is killing our children and us.
