Zio-Nazi reservist sentenced to six months of community service for stealing money from infiltrator who crossed border from Egypt
ed note–remember, this soldier can point to his religion in justifying what he did as referenced from the book of Deuteronomy–
–When the Lord your God brings you into the land he swore to your fathers, to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, he will give you a land with large, flourishing cities you did not build, houses filled with all kinds of good things you did not provide, wells you did not dig, and vineyards and olive groves you did not plant…
An IDF reservist who was convicted of stealing $1,000 from a Turkish infiltrator who crossed Israel’s border with Egypt has been sentenced to six months of community service.
Havening initially denied the allegations, the defendant confessed to the theft just before the complainant was about to testify against him at the Kastina Military Court. He expressed regret over his actions.
Judge Lt. Col. Maya Goldschmidt ordered the defendant to return the money and stated that stealing from an infiltrator who crossed the border is particularly serious crime.
The defendant was on reserve duty on the Egyptian border when a group of infiltrators entered Israel. He asked the Turkish infiltrator for his money and when the latter refused, proceeded to steal the sum.
The soldier served as the battalion commander’s driver and was convicted of theft and conduct unbecoming. Judge Goldschmidt decided not to sentence him to time in prison having taken into account his personal circumstances.
