Western Politicians and NATO exploiting Ukraine standoff to their fullest

NATO Review - Cartoon photostory: could this be what is really going on?

‘Swift and severe costs’: Ukraine tension ratchets up as Biden and Putin speak

…from Politico

[ Editor’s Note: These calls now between the US and Russia seem to be no more than free publicity generators for those getting their names in the media.

It was interesting news of Kamala Harris going to the Munich conference, where she will be treated courteously but will be way in over her head. The flip side to that is the Russian delegation is not attending, its first absence in a decade.

It is also the 15th anniversary of Putin’s address opposing the expansion of NATO as destabilizing the peace, which of course is true, and why NATO is doing it. It keeps the war machines and the industries permanently employed for decades, until the next and maybe the last war.

“NATO expansion does not have any relation with the modernization of the Alliance itself,” Putin said in the combative 2007 address. “On the contrary, it represents a serious provocation that reduces the level of mutual trust.”

We are hearing the same worn out drivel from Biden about how strong the US reaction will be, with no historical mention of how, if the US had not backed the Kiev coup, we would not be facing this situation.

Once again we find even senior leaders who were there at the time, airbrushing their own participation in what has led to the current standoff. Western leaders have a very selective memory, whereas the Russians remember everything, and for good reason.

As for Macron, he is milking the crisis as part of his reelection campaign presenting himself as the great world leader, the same old bullshit which is to be expected in such times. As for Putin, I think he is a closet Who fan.

He knows drifting along with the status quo is heading in only one direction where all can be lost, so risks must be taken to change that dynamic.

How the Who knew all this was coming someday is beyond me. A lot of people will not get what I am trying to explain here, but the Vietnam Vets will, and the USS Liberty crew will, and that’s really enough for the effort. Only VT will be publishind something like this… Jim W. Dean ]

We’ll be fighting in the streets
With our children at our feet
And the morals that they worship will be gone
And the men who spurred us on
Sit in judgement of all wrong
They decide and the shotgun sings the song

I’ll tip my hat to the new constitution
Take a bow for the new revolution
Smile and grin at the change all around
Pick up my guitar and play
Just like yesterday
Then I’ll get on my knees and pray
We don’t get fooled again…

…“It remains unclear whether Russia is interested in pursuing its goals diplomatically as opposed to through the use of force,” the official said. “We don’t have full visibility into President Putin’s decision making.”

…Russia’s foreign ministry continued to decry U.S. warnings as propaganda on Friday, dismissing the alarms as a “coordinated information attack” being “waged against Moscow.”

…“The hysteria of the White House is more indicative than ever,” Zakharova said. “The Anglo-Saxons need a war. At any cost. Provocations, misinformation and threats are a favorite method of solving their own problems.”

…General Austin is expected in Brussels this week to take part in a long-planned defense ministers’ meeting at NATO, in which Russia will clearly be at the top of the agenda.
