U.S.A: SPENT ON WAR NOT FOOD

NOVANEWS

Dear All,

We finally got a government panel to admit $1 spent on war is $1 less for food or schools.

Hey it’s me, Ben. Something just happened with our work to reduce crazy Pentagon spending that I had to share with you personally.
This week, an official government panel actually said what we’ve known all along: that billions spent on warplanes and missiles is billions NOT spent on schools, healthcare and food for our children and communities. President Dwight Eisenhower said it. You and I have been saying it since I started TrueMajority almost a decade ago. But now President Obama’s own Deficit Commission admitted it in their report that was leaked to the press on Wednesday.
We can’t agree with most of what the commission laid out — more tax cuts for the wealthy, severe cuts to Social Security and Medicare, etc. But we can agree on their suggestion to spend $100 billion LESS on building and supporting an overgrown Pentagon war machine. It was quite a thing to read a government report which said, basically, we can’t fix our budget problems without big cuts in the Pentagon.
So we’re asking you to help spread the word in your community by writing a quick letter to the editor of your hometown newspaper.
We’ve made it easy, like always.

For a decade, we’ve been working to convince Washington that America has ONE budget. Like President Dwight D. Eisenhower said, spending billions on war steals the food from the sick, tired and hungry. With more than 40 million Americans living on foodstamps and our country spending more on our military than EVERY other industrialized nation on earth, we think the Pentagon can spare some of its billions.
Can you write a letter-to-the-editor to your hometown newspaper about this?
I’ve already written mine. While we can’t agree with most of what the Deficit Commission laid out in their report, we can agree on this: less money for warplanes and missiles and more for our schools and communities.
Thanks for being a voice for a TrueMajority in your community.
