NOVANEWS
You are probably beyond being shocked that Nazi forces have smashed one of the four cameras that you supplied last December to Human Rights Defenders in Hebron. We don’t know if it’s the same one that HRD volunteer Imad abu Shamsiyeh used to film the murder of Abdel Fattah al-Sharif by Nazi soldier Elor Azarya. Part of the incident at which the camera was smashed was filmed here (but not the smashing of the camera). The HRD report is at the end of this message.
HRD has appealed for more cameras and other equipment, and ISM-NorCal has agreed to provide it, including 10 good amateur quality cameras for the growing number of adult HRD volunteers, 15 lesser quality for the older children, two more laptop computers, one LCD projector, and related equipment (such as memory sticks). The total cost is estimated at $4500, including shipping, but we have a $2000 matching grant, so the remainder that we need to raise from you is $2500. Here is the information about where to make your donation by check or electronically:
We are also looking for lots of volunteers traveling from the US to Palestine, who are willing to take individual items of the equipment. If you or anyone you know is traveling there, please contact us directly at solidarity@ism-norcal.org or 510-236-4250.
Thank you for your generosity and your help.
Human Rights Defenders Incident Report
The activist Badee Dweek ,who is the spokesman of the Human Rights Defenders Assembly , said that a group of settlers assaulted the the assembly coordinator Imad Abu Shamsyee and the activist Yasser Abu Markhia while they were documenting a group of settlers who were abusing the residents of Tel Rumeida area.
The assembly coordinator Abu Shamsyee said that settlers were carrying sticks to attack the region population , especially the children, so as to terrorize and intimidate them and he finished by saying that he heard the sounds of screams in the beginning , so he went into the street with video cameras and the activist Yasser joined him with a camera again for the coverage, and all these assaults were in front of the Israeli occupation soldiers.
Afterward, a group of Nazi Jewish settlers went toward the activist Yasser Abu Markhia and pushed him which wounded him , then hit him with their hands.
Dweik said that one of the strikes broke the camera , which disabled the camera completely and become unusable , so Imed was given another camera , and the broken one stayed with the assembly ,
Dweek also said that the Nazi Jewish settlers and the occupation soldiers became more targeting activists of assembly and their cameras after their success in documenting many of the crimes, especially the recent crime in which the martyr Abdel Fattah al-Sharif was killed in cold blood in addition to the martyr Ramzi Qasrawi, besides the activist Badie Dweik called on international human rights organizations in the world to provide protection to activists gathering since their lives became at risk of serious threats because of the Nazi settlers.
Note that The Human Rights defenders is a Palestinian , national non-partisan assembly and working on supporting unarmed popular resistance by means of popular actions which are available, in addition to the documenting and following-up of violations committed by the occupation forces against the Palestinian people.
To avoid a proliferation of lists, this one includes both local and international announcements. We apologize for any inconvenience, but will try to keep local announcements to a minimum and only for occasional events.
