Host Dan Yaseen welcomes Cindy Lee Miller Sheehan.
Cindy is is an American anti-war activist, whose son, U.S. Army Specialist Casey Sheehan, was killed by enemy action during the Iraq War. She attracted national and international media attention in August 2005 for her extended antiwar protest at a makeshift camp outside President George W. Bush‘s Texas ranch—a stand that drew both passionate support and criticism.
Sheehan ran unsuccessfully for Congress in 2008. She was a vocal critic of President Barack Obama‘s foreign policy. Her memoir, Peace Mom: A Mother’s Journey Through Heartache to Activism, was published in 2006.
Sheehan was the 2012 vice-presidential nominee of the Peace and Freedom Party, and received 1.2% of the statewide vote in the 2014 California gubernatorial election.

Speaking Truth to Empire with Host Dan Yaseen

Dan Yaseen was born in Karachi, Pakistan and immigrated to the United States in 1974. He received MS in Electrical Engineering from Michigan State University. He has been an independent life and health insurance broker for over 30 years, specializing in Medicare.
Dan has always been interested in politics and history. He follows global issues and geopolitics. After the tragedy of 911, he decided silence was no longer an option and became an anti-war, anti-Empire activist.
He is a charter member of Peace Fresno, was President 2004-2005; he is currently Vice President – Membership. He is also on the boards of Fresno Center for Nonviolence, and the Community Alliance Newspaper. He is the host of radio show, Speaking Truth to Empire on VT Radio and on on 88.1 KFCF Free Speech Radio for Central California.
