Russia Victory Day

Russia will celebrate one of the most important holidays its calendar, Victory Day, on Monday 9 May.

The annual event commemorates the defeat of Nazi Germany in World War Two in 1945. But this year it has a new significance, as Russian forces continue their two-month ‘assault’ in Ukraine.

The Kremlin has dismissed as nonsense reports that Russian President Vladimir Putin might use the opportunity this year to officially declare war on Ukraine – or even the West.
