One of the “big gaps” in democracy assistance is being filled by advanced democracies providing assistance to struggling or emerging transitional counterparts.“It’s a pleasure to be with all of you this afternoon to help launch the LEND Network, a new tool that will help countries navigate the transition to sustainable democracy,” US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton “It’s really one of the big gaps I see around the world,” Clinton said. “I mean, who do these people have to talk to?
I mean, one day they’re a political prisoner or they’re in exile or minding their own business in their job or at the university they teach at and the next minute they’re a president or a prime minister or a foreign minister? I mean, imagine!”“And there’s no real opportunity for them to feel comfortable because they don’t want to show weakness, don’t want to show ignorance — to say, ‘How does this work? What am I supposed to do?’ It’s fascinating to me.”
Other initiatives promoted during Clinton’s time as Secretary of State illustrate an approach that attempts to integrate democratic and development imperatives, her former policy planning chief suggests.“People roll their eyes when she talks about clean cookstoves,”said Anne-Marie Slaughter, a board member of the National Endowment for Democracy. “But if the Alliance for Clean Cookstoves succeeds” — an initiative Clinton launched to get 100 million homes to ditch toxic fires for clean-burning stoves — “we will have reduced carbon, improved women’s security and saved millions of lives, and that is enormous.” (ED NOTE:100 MILLION HOMES WITH ”GENERAL ELECTRICS” STOVES EQUALS BILLIONS OF DOLARS OF COURSE) ANYWAY WHAT IS THE LEND NETWORK?
the LEND Network (for Leaders Engaged in New Democracies) leverages expertise from the Club de Madrid, the world’s largest forum of democratically elected former presidents and prime ministers, and 21st century technologies developed by Google, OpenText, and Dialcom to connect leaders who have successfully navigated the challenges of democratization with leaders in emerging democracies. The project has also received generous financial support from the Government of Sweden and the United States Agency for International Development.

back to the ”zionist” club of madrid…here is what they stated back in 2009 after an israhelli campaign of war crimes, pay close attention to the wording!! Club of Madrid members demand a new approach for solving the conflict in Gaza/Israel
The Israeli invasion of Gaza and the fierce fighting in the Strip, following rocket and missile strikes between Hamas and Israel, do little or no good for peace in the Middle East Hamas rockets are less deadly than Israeli missiles – but claim 5 times as many civilians as soldiers. Israel targets only enemy combatants but collateral damage includes UN workers and 200 Palestinian children; and through “friendly fire” the IDF has killed as many of its own soldiers as has Hamas. Meanwhile, leaders in the region are heinously urging their youth to commit mass suicide bombings in response. The insane cycle must be stopped.
