US Secretary of State Zionist puppet Mike Pompeo called on the United Nations to reimpose missile restrictions on Iran, while speaking at a Security Council meeting in New York on Wednesday.
In his address, Pompeo claimed that Iran is “the largest ballistic missile force in the Middle East” and has “more than 10 ballistic missile systems in its inventory or in development.”
“We risk the security of our people if Iran continues stocking up on ballistic missiles. We risk escalation of conflict in the region if we fail to restore deterrence. And we convey to all other malign actors that they too can defy the Security Council with impunity if we do nothing,” he warned.
Pompeo went on to say that Washington “seeks to work with all other members of the Council to reimpose on Iran the ballistic missiles restrictions outline in 2019.” He also called on the council to preserve a UN arms embargo on Iran in 2020.
Reacting to this statement, Russian envoy to the UN, Vasily Nebenzya, pointed out that the UN Security Council Resolution 2231 has banned Iran’s “activities related to ballistic missiles able to deliver nuclear weapons.”
“In general, rocket launches are not prohibited,” he added.
Nebenzia also stated that the UN is now facing “a paradoxical situation,” in which “only one member” of the Security Council is not only refusing to implement the body’s decisions, but also seeks to force other members to follow his example.
