PALESTINE SOLIDARITY CAMPAIGN ''PSC'' SHANA TOVA & SHALOM SHALOM

NOVANEWS

WEST MIDLANDS PALESTINE SOLIDARITY CAMPAIGN

NEW YEAR MESSAGE FOR 2012

This message is from the WMPSC Branch Committee to all our members, supporters and friends to thank you for your continuing support and commitment to the campaign for a free Palestine.

* ”WA I NEVER SUPPORT YOU NO THANK’S”

Sometimes, if you are taking part in a small, local demonstration or supermarket picket, the campaign can seem a lonely activity, so remember that we are part of a national and global movement. * ” GLOBAL 7 People ???” Over years of campaigning, PSC has grown into the biggest mass movement in solidarity with Palestine in the UK, backed by MPs, trade unions, faith groups,

* ” FAITH GROUPS SUCH AS MUSLIMS FOR ISRAEL AND THE WEST MIDLANDS ISRAELI INFORMATION CENTRE”  student societies and thousands of members. Manuel Hassassian, ”ZIONIST PUPPET AB-A$$ REPRESENTATIVE”

the Palestinian ambassador to the UK, described PSC as ‘the lungs of the Palestinian people in this country’. And we work closely with Palestine support groups in other countries.

Nationally, PSC continues to run an active BIG (Boycott Israeli Goods) campaign, is running a campaign to halt Israel’s cr eeping annexation of East Jerusalem and has had a number of successes in its opposition to the BBC’s distorted coverage of Palestine. PSC has lobbied the UK and EU Parliaments and has co-ordinated an increasingly successful campaign against Veolia ( see below).

” TELL US ABOUT YOUR YEARS OF SUPPORT TO ZIO-NAZI HISTARRUT ??”

Locally, in the West Midlands, there have been 72 events *” CAN YOU PUBLISH YOU 72 EVENTS WITH DATE’S BIG LIE” during the year, organised by 20 or more groups, demonstrating ?? YOU LIE AGAIN widespread support for Palestine among community and faith groups, student organisations, trades unions and other bodies. WMPSC will continue to run public meetings, cultural events, talks, the weekly stall and the annual Ramadan dates campaign (details of our activities and those of other groups are in our annual report – read it on our website or e-mail us if you would like a copy). The more volunteers who come forward, the more of these events we can put on.

Our main campaign for 2012 will be to press Birmingham City Council to terminate its waste management contract with Veolia. This company actively supports illegal Israeli settlements in The West Bank and the appropriation of Palestinian land through its building of a major tramway linking Israeli settlements to Israel. PSC branches across the country have had successes in opposing Veolia’s bids for local authority contracts, as we did in Sandwell in 2009.

Each year we urge you all to increase your participation in the campaign. Ways in which you can do this include :

i) join national PSC  ” AND MUSLIM’S FOR ISRAEL, ISRAELI INFORMATION CENTRE, AND SUPPORT ZIONIST WAR IN LIBYA”– this gives the whole movement more clout, more campaigning funds, more visibility

ii) donate to WMPSC – OH NO CANT DONATE ??  I WILL DONATE TO CHARITY NOT TO POLITICAL LIBERAL ZIONIST’S ”  one-off or standing order (please e-mail us for details)

iii) help to run our weekly stall; help at or organise an event; leaflet your local supermarket; lobby and write to councillors, MPs, MEPs; get your community, faith, student group or TU branch to affiliate to WMPSC; do some of the background organisational work. Small contributions can make a big difference.

iv) when campaigning for Palestine or just talking to friends and colleagues, ” I’M TALKING TO MY FRIEND’S ABOUT PSC” make the point that you don’t have to be anti-Israel to support a fair settlement for Palestine – a result which would be beneficial to Israel as well as to Palestine and the wider Middle East.

Have a good new year and help us build on the growing national and international support for a free Palestine!

Best wishes from :

Jolyon Jones; Chris Khamis; Naeem Malik;
Janet Moir; Brian Sheridan; Merfat Suleiman; Martin Sullivan

PSC HAS MADE IT

UK PSC  is now approved by the notorious UK hard core Zionist Jewish Chronicle (JC).

The JC reported today that the UK Palestine Solidarity Campaign (PSC) has “amended its statement of purpose expressly to include a denunciation of Holocaust denial.”

The JC was very happy to report that the statement on the PSC’s website now reads: “Any expression of racism or intolerance, or attempts to deny or minimise the Holocaust have no place in our movement.”

I must admit that I am puzzled by the PSC’s new statement. I still do not know what holocaust denial entails. Can anyone deny a historical chapter?  Can any one deny Napoleonic Wars? Are there WWI deniers around, or Ancient Greece Deniers? I don’t think so. The word ‘denial’ doesn’t belong to the historical discourse. It actually fits into religious and dogmatic narratives.

However, this is certainly the first time I have come across the notion of ‘Holocaust minimizing’. I really can’t imagine what it is. I can think of people who minimize the ‘impact’ or ‘significance’ of an event in the past, but to my knowledge,  holocaust minimizing’ doesn’t make any sense in English.

It seems as if the PSC was reacting in panic to an orchestrated Zionist attack.

And indeed, the JC brings up the details. The “PSC has come under increasing pressure over views held by some members of its branches. Some have been accused of Holocaust denial and promoting Jewish conspiracy narratives.” In other words, the JC basically informs us that the PSC surrendered to Zionist pressure. This shouldn’t take us by a complete surprise. Zionist pressure can be very effective. This week, for instance,  we saw President Obama advocating the Likud mantra to the UN general assembly.

As one would anticipate, the JC was kind enough to report that  “the move has been welcomed by Jewish anti-Zionists such as Tony Greenstein.”

Along the years I have heard Palestinians, Muslims and Arabs complaining that British Solidarity organizations hardly reflects their voice. At least now they know why.

I am not a member of the PSC,  yet, I would like the PSC to be strong and effective. I hope that the PSC find within itself the necessary wisdom to recover from this fiasco. I am sure it will.
