Official: Over 8,000 ISIL Terrorists Killed in Iraq in 2015
Saudi Zio-Wahhabi ‘ISIL’ Takfiri terrorist group has lost hundreds of its terrorists in clashes with the Iraqi army and Kurdish forces or aerial bombardments last year, Iraqi officials announced.
“At least 8,000 ‘ISIL’ terrorists have been killed in clashes with army, Kurdish Peshmerga forces or Iraqi air strikes in different parts of Iraq in 2015,” Iraqi Kurdistan region’s official Saeed Mamouzini said on Saturday.
Yet, he complained that the terrorists are receiving vast aid to maintain their power.
The ISIL receives massive military, financial and logistic supports from Turkey, Qatar and Saudi Arabia.
Turkey has been attacking Kurdish militias in northern Syria and Iraq, despite Kurds being considered a key ally by Washington in the fight against the ISIL.
Tensions between Ankara and Baghdad have increased dramatically since Turkey reinforced its military deployment in Iraq with about 150 soldiers backed by artillery and around 25 tanks in a base near the ISIL-controlled northern Iraqi city of Mosul on December 4.
The Iraqi government considered this action as a hostile act in violation of its sovereignty and demanded the immediate withdrawal of Turkish troops.
On December 20, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced the withdrawal of military troops from Iraq to reduce tensions following international criticism. The decision to pull out troops also came after Iraq brought the issue to the United Nations Security Council. Yet, Turkey kept a part of its troops in Iraq and remains adamant to pulling them out.
In early December, member of the Iraqi parliament’s security and defense committee said that the committee would propose to the country’s government to cooperate with Russia in carrying out airstrikes against the ISIL.
“Soon, a meeting of the committee with Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi will be held, where we will propose cooperating with Russia in carrying out airstrikes against the Islamic State and in the fight against terrorism in Iraq,” Iskander Witit said.
