Netanyahu’s “judicial coup” is a plan to escape conviction or punishment

Dear Editor,

About 100,000 people were protesting in Tel Aviv against the “judicial coup” of the Netanyahu government and its plans to undermine democracy. Protesters fear the new judicial reform plan would ultimately help the PM Netanyahu, who is standing trial for corruption, escape conviction or punishment.

At the same time, US ambassador to Israel Thomas Nides is cheering Netanyahu, saluting Israel’s “thriving democracy” and “judicial reform.” I find it comical if not bemusing.

Thank God Nides wasn’t around when Hitler was democratically elected, otherwise he would have praised Germany’s thriving democracy and the persecution of Jews.
