Lebanon: 7 corona 7 deaths

Hussein Saad wrote in “The Cities”:

The eighties, Deep Sabra, the son of the southern town of Haddatha, spent Sunday an epidemic of Corona in a hospital in the American city of Derburun in the state of Michigan, while the daughter of Bint Jbeil Ghada was dressed as a mother (two sons) and many other members of the Lebanese community in Dearborn and Detroit hospitals, after they were afflicted with this epidemic. Which spread among the sons of the large Arab communities and Americans, and the number reached hundreds, especially Detroit, which was described as the endemic state.

Sabra, who was suffering from chronic diseases and was admitted as a result to the hospital to be infected with and killed by the Corona virus, is the seventh death in the Lebanese community, specifically southern, in Dearborn and Dearborn Heights, which is inhabited by twenty thousand Lebanese. Of the deceased, the epidemic was known by Hana Ali Bazzi, Hassan Hammoud, Ghassan Fawaz, Fadi Haragali, Samir Bazzi and Muhammad Olabi.

Gradual decline

The Lebanese in Michigan, like others in other states, do not apply to them, for example, the situation of Lebanese expatriates in Africa, or students who have been stranded in Europe. These are part of the American fabric, enjoying rights and duties, and the vast majority of them are rooted in this country, and they have representatives from their fellow citizens in government councils, who watch over their conditions.

The members of the Lebanese community in Dearborn and the Abbey of Burns Heights praise the strict measures taken by the governor of Michigan, in order to close schools and commercial establishments a month and a half ago, which contributed greatly to the epidemic decline in the state, while the Lebanese community is working hard to contribute to the general discipline in terms of commitment to the home stone , Direct directions on social media.

Hassan Sam Baydoun, a Lebanese American, hails from the city of Bint Jbeil, and delegates from Dearborn out of 15 US commissioners representing 43 cities in Wayne County. From the first moment, he has been striving in coordination with the governor of Michigan, addressing the Lebanese and Arab community, and urging them to commit to stone to confront Corona.

Beydoun assures Al-Modon, also speaking to the community: You must know that all hospitals in our area have reached their full potential, and doctors and nurses who are fighting a war on the epidemic on the front lines have become exhausted and vulnerable to infection or death. The same applies to members of the Arab community that this epidemic is killing.

Adding that the number of deaths and injuries is declining in the state, especially Dearborn, and we have become fifth after we were ranked third in the United States. All this is the result of strong and strict measures taken by the governor of the state and the response of citizens. He pointed out that it is assumed that after two weeks it will begin to reduce the procedures by gradually opening the institutions, in exchange for maintaining banning gatherings and celebrations, and taking additional measures at the gates of the month of Ramadan.

Beydoun explains that the number of the Lebanese community in Michigan promises hundreds of thousands, while in Dearborn and Deer Born Heights, the largest number of Arab communities is the Yemeni community followed by the Lebanese and Iraqi.

Support for families

The Lebanese American journalist in the weekly newspaper Echo of the Country, Ali Mansour, is following the developments of the Corona epidemic in that region and the activities of the Lebanese and Arab community in particular. He assures Al-Modon that life remained normal until the tenth of March. Then I started the quarantine and closure procedures. It was this delay that contributed to the outbreak. He adds: What applies to the Americans applies to the Lebanese community in terms of providing financial support to families by the American government.

Mansour notes that Detroit, the state’s commercial capital and the largest city of Michigan, is adjacent to Dearborn and Born Heights Abbey, and is considered a city infested with Corona. There is a strong link between the Lebanese community and this city, where their business is, especially in the gas stations sector, most of which are Lebanese.
