Israel went ballistic over ENESCO vote recently because it did not have its way. The so called only democracy in the Middle East threw a temper tantrum after the a unanimous vote by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization recognizing the historic site in Jerusalem as Muslim site, said Israel is an “occupying power”, and determined there is no religious connection between Jews and Jerusalem.
Actually, there is no such thing as the Temple Mount. It is called The Noble Sanctuary ” Haram al- Sharif ” as Muslims call the garden surrounding the two monuments (Al-Aqsa mosque and the Dome of the Rock ) is considered as the third holy shrine in Islam.  Muslims believe that prophet Mohammad (pbuh) to have ascended to heaven for spiritual consultation from the bedrock located under the Dome of the Rock, a Muslim shrine (not a mosque). The site is one of the most beautiful places in Jerusalem.
In their book entitled: “The Bible Unearthed”, Neil Silberman & Israel Finklestein, both Jewish, wrote: “The actual extent of the Davidic ’empire’ is hotly debated. Digging in Jerusalem has failed to produce evidence that it was a great city in David or Solomon’s time.”
During the Six-Day war of 1967 Israel occupied the Palestinian West Bank and East Jeursaelem and later it annexed the city of Jerusalem in1980.  However, the United Nations Security Council Resolution 478, adopted by 14 votes to none, declared the law “null and void.” No foreign country today has an embassy in Jerusalem.
U.S. policy has long refrained from recognizing Israel’s sovereignty over Jerusalem. Jerusalem is the capital of Palestine, always has been. In 1980, Israel illegally declared the city of Jerusalm as its undivided capital. In  2015 the Supreme Court issued a decision reaffirming U.S. practice that forbids Americans born in Jerusalem to list Israel as their country of birth on passports.
Tel Aviv is and not Jerusalem is the capital of Israel. Only two countries around the world, Guatemala and El-Salvador , have recognized it as such. Countries such as the USA, Canada, Australia and all European nations only recognized Tel Aviv as the capital and hence maintain their embassies there.
Last April, UNESCO passed a resolution condemning “Israeli aggressions and illegal measures against the freedom of worship and Muslims’ access to the Al-Aqsa Mosque
Israel was also furious that the UNESCO resolution refers to the Old City site in Jerusalem by its Arabic name and used the Muslim name Al-Haram al-Sharif when referring to the Al-Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem.
One day after infamous vote by this U.N. agency, Israel cut off all ties with UNESCO. Now UNESCO will be celebrating the news that they no longer will have to deal with Israel.
