Iranian counter-revolutionaries attack peaceful Muslims in Toronto

A rowdy bunch of Iranian monarchists shouting obscenities attacked two Muslims attending the commemoration of Imam Khomeini’s anniversary at the Islamic Society of York Region in Richmond Hill on June 2. The assault occurred when Zahoor Hyder started to film the counter-revolutionary mob. About 10-15 of them rushed the photographer and knocking his camera to the ground, started hitting him with sticks. He sustained injuries to his head and arms. Another Muslim, Siraj Ali who rushed to his help was also attacked and hit on the head.
The police intervened and rescued Zahoor Hyder while other officers moved the mob back to their designated place. They had gathered outside the Islamic Society premises on the busy Stouffville Road that had to be closed after the assault as more officers were called out. The police officers took statements from Zahoor as well as Siraj and requested that all video footage be provided to them to press charges against those that took part in the assault.
The monarchists and counter-revolutionaries not only shout obscenities at those they oppose but are also not averse to physically attacking people they disagree with. Muslims have vowed to pursue the matter through courts to ensure justice is done and that those involved in attacking people are dealt with according to law.
These people allege that they are “mistreated” in Iran yet they will not permit even law-abiding Canadian Muslim citizens to go about their business of organizing a peaceful commemoration ceremony. They have the gall to attack people right in front of police officers.
These counter-revolutionaries also had the backing of Jewish Defence League (JDL) thugs. This is a body that has been banned in the US as a terrorist organization yet for some strange reason it continues to operate quite freely and openly in Canada. It is this kind of license that has emboldened their fellow travellers to indulge in vicious attacks against innocent people as was witnessed on Sunday June 2 outside the Islamic Society of York Region premises.
If the police fail to take action against such behaviour of the counter-revolutionaries and their enablers, it will embolden other criminal elements to take the law into their own hands.
