NOVANEWS
Fundraising campaign by Rifat Audeh
In 2010, I was kidnapped in international waters, thrown in jail and accused of being a terrorist. The Israeli navy perpetrated the same crime against more than 700 of my fellow humanitarian activists who were with me, and killed 10 of us. They are continuing with these actions with impunity till today. This is why I need your help.
I created my documentary film, The Truth: Lost at Sea, that sheds light on the 2010 Freedom Flotilla, which tried to break the illegal and inhumane blockade of Gaza. It shows the flotilla preparations and launch, and the subsequent Israeli attack. The film then exposes and refutes the lies and propaganda that ensued in the aftermath, and includes some never-before-seen footage of the event.
I funded the film myself, and was able to complete and release it this way and therefore maintain its complete independence. This means no outside interests or influence on anything. But now I’m at a point where I need assistance for covering my still ongoing expenses. These expenses include submitting to film festivals, paying an administrative assistant, researching impact producers, aggregators for Video-on-demand platforms and distributors, and then hiring some of these entities, in addition to touring with the film for community screenings and outreach. Basically, everything that I need to keep doing to get the film out there to as many audiences as possible.
I’ve put in thousands of hours into this as voluntary work, but cannot sustain the film by myself any longer. This work is so critical because as recently as August 2018, the Israeli navy once again assaulted, kidnapped activists in international waters and detained them. The good news is that the film has been gradually gaining recognition and awards. And, with your support, it can reach more people, raise awareness further and start to make a real change. You can see more about the film at its FB page and the film website, in addition to the article below:
