FIDA QISHTA'S FILM OF MONA SAMOUNI

NOVANEWS

I met Mona Samouni twice, and talked to her over the phone a few other times. The first time I was at her house in Zeitoun, there were hardly any adults around, just her older brother. She is now 11, or 12—I forget—and immediately went into the kitchen to prepare tea for us.
My friend Adie Mormech tutors her in English once or twice a week. He tells me there are never any adults around, just older kids, like Mona, taking care of the still-younger children.
Fida’s film looks amazing. They need donations to create a full-length feature. Please consider giving them.
