Labour have held Birmingham Hall Green in a tight and often vicious contest against the Respect Mafia.
Roger Godsiff held on for Labour despite an 11.7 % swing to Salma Yaqoom of Respect, who came second.
Ms Yaqoom, called on Mr Godsiff to “be fair” in a YouTube video made for the Campaign after he put out leaflets attacking her and the Liberal Democrats.
