NOVANEWS
Israeli-born Gilad Atzmon, one of Europe’s finest jazz musicians, comes to Washington, DC for the first time as part of his multi-city North American tour to perform and discuss his recently published and highly controversial book, The Wandering Who? A Study of Jewish Identity Politics.
The Guardian described Atzmon as “one of London’s finest saxophonists [but] it is Atzmon’s blunt anti-Zionism rather than his music that has given him an international profile, particularly in the Arab world, where his essays are widely read.”
A prolific performer, composer, author and activist, Atzmon brings his intellect and artistry to bear on Israel’s continuing occupation of Palestine. He strips away the propaganda and the polemics in U.S.-Israel relations that hide one simple fact: Palestinian people continue to live under occupation, financed by the United States, an occupation that builds roads they cannot use and houses in which they cannot live.
At each DC event the Washington Report on Middle East Affairs will be selling Atzmon’s CD “The Tide Has Changed” and his book The Wandering Who?—although as Prof. Garrison Fewell warns, when you finish reading the latter, you may likely “see a different face in the mirror.” (You can also purchase the book and CD directly from the AET Book Club middleeastbooks.com)
