Burma’s opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi has indicated her intention to run for the presidency, with elections due to be held in 2015.
Addressing world leaders and heads of business at a major forum, the Nobel Peace laureate called for the amendment of the military drafted Burmese constitution which prevents her from leading the country.
Burma’s current constitution blocks anyone with spouses or children who are overseas citizens from leading the country, which affects the democracy activist whose two sons are British.
Suu Kyi told the forum she wants to run for president and she is “quite frank about it”.
