The official television and Oman News Agency announced the death of the Sultan in the early hours of Saturday morning, at the age of 79.

The Secretary-General of the Council of Ministers, Judge Mahmoud Makiya, pointed out that “The head of the caretaker government, Saad Hariri, announced the official mourning of the Sultan of the Sultanate of Oman, Qaboos bin Said, who died today, so that the mourning of the flags raised on all official departments, institutions and municipalities will be reflected for a period of three days from its date until On Monday, 1/13/2020 inclusive, regular programs on radio and television stations will be adjusted in line with the dire occasion’.
