Death threats have rained down on Bennett, Shaked, and Israeli jounalists.
In the end Bibi was his own worst enemy to push so many right wingers away

United under a new coalition flag of ‘anybody but Bibi’, the most diverse opposition group to the Netanyahu hegemony presented its government to Israe’s president Rivlin tonight. Bibi has only himself to thank for this state of affairs.
Actually he worked very hard to forge this coalition into making the compromises needed to begin a new page in Israeli political history. Naysayers are already saying that the ‘impossible’ coalition will not be hold togther.
To that I say, compared to whom? The last Bibi government did not last long, when he suckered Benny Gantz into a coaltion with rotating Prime Ministership only to kill the deal when it suited him.
But Naftali Bennett, Netanyahu’s former defense minister beat out the 12 year veteran teflon Don Netanyahu where no scandal, no matter how bad, could knock him out of the box.
The past year has showed him using all his prime minister power to somehow stop his criminal trial by getting reelected with henchmen placed in key positions to not only block the case from proceeding, but to stack the courts and key judicial offices to assure it was buried…WaPo.
…“The government will do everything it can to unite every part of Israeli society,” Mr. Lapid said in a statement released shortly after his call with Mr. Rivlin…“The government will do everything it can to unite every part of Israeli society,” Mr. Lapid said in a statement released shortly after his call with Mr. Rivlin…NYT.
Bibi shot off all of his arrows trying to pull back conservative right wing defectors, but it appears that his credibility was so damaged
…“Lapid has made a very strong set of decisions, conveyed an amazing level of maturity and really made a big statement about a different kind of leadership,” said Dahlia Scheindlin, an Israeli political analyst and pollster at the Century Foundation, a New York-based research group. “That will not be lost on the Israeli public.”…New York Times.
Israel’s right wing was reeling from the bad news, “Hearing Bennett’s words made every right-wing stomach churn,” commentator Mati Tuchfeld wrote in the right-wing, pro-Netanyahu newspaper Israel Hayom. “Every word in his speech was like a punch in the gut to the people who had believed him and had followed his lead.”
Death threats have rained down on Bennett, Shaked, and Israeli jounalists. The fevor even extended to one MPs baby, forcing the mother to stay home today.
Welcome to Israel’s crazy town moment, in a way paralelling the US crazy town tempest with Mr. Trump and following who are still insisting that he really did win the election despite all the court rulings against that absurdity.
But as long as the Trumpster suckers keep shelling out their money, trying to ride the Trump fantasy into another four year replay, the race is on to see if the prosecutors can gobble him up before his dream of winning again in 2024.
