The Israeli occupation displaced last Monday morning the members of Abu Nab family from their houses in the neighborhood of Batn Al-Hawa in Silwan after the Nazi Jewish illegal settlement organization Ateerat Cohanim seized their houses under the pretext of ownership of the property.
In an initiative for the locals of Batn Al-Hawa, an apartment was rented for Abdullah Abu Nab and his family that consists of 4 individuals and another apartment was rented for Sabri Abu Nab and his family of 5 individuals.
Abu Nab family explained that the occupation forces provided the Nazi Jewish settlers of Ateerat Cohanim with full protection to seize their property after they fought a long struggle for years in the Nazi courts to protect their property. The forces damaged and removed the front doors and evacuated the family members from the two houses and attempted to confiscate the furniture and contents of the houses but they ended up removing them from the houses and deliberately damaging them before throwing them in the street in conjunction with raising the Nazi flag on the seized property and installing surveillance cameras to barbed wires on the windows and walls.
Jawad Abu Nab who owns the remaining house in the complex recently received a notice that his house will be seized. The lawyer of Ateerat Cohanim offered him one million NIS for leaving his house but her refused and confirmed his right to the property in which he has lived in along with his family for many years.
The Nazi Jewish illegal settlement organization, Ateerat Cohanim, claim ownership of Abu Nab family houses before 1948 as they used to be a Jewish synagogue and the family recently changed the nature of the building by adding to it. In 2002, Nazi Jewish settlers asked to seize the building claiming that Abu Nab family lost the “protected tenant” classification after the building process and requested to demolish the building and pay settlers the rent.
Several evacuation orders were issued against Abu Nab family and the last notice gave them until 25/10/2015 to evacuate.
