Iran’s President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad says the United States seeks to save itself and Israel by creating tension among Muslims in the Middle East region.
“Saving the Zionist Regime [of Israel] is the backbone of US schemes in the region, and the US is currently trying to save this fabricated regime from destruction,” Ahmadinejad said in a meeting with Sudanese President Omar Hassan al-Bashir on Sunday.
The meeting took place on the sidelines of the second day of the International Conference on the Global Fight against Terrorism in the Iranian capital of Tehran.
“So long as the ominous phenomenon of terrorism exists none of the regional countries will see peace,” Ahmadinejad added.
Referring to the anti-terrorism conference, the Iranian president said the regional countries can uproot terrorism through cooperation.
Bashir, for his part, said the state terrorism led by the US, Israel and their allies threatens the security of the nations.
“The US, Israel and their allies try to introduce Iran as the enemy of nations and governments instead of Israel, and this is a lie and unjust accusation,” al-Bashir added.
International Conference on the Global Fight against Terrorism, which brings together senior officials from at least 60 countries and representatives from several international organizations including the UN, began on Saturday in Tehran.
