U.S. Weighs Syrian Options, Air Force Considers Cali Drilling Lease

* U.S. military options in Syria range from training and advising rebels fighting to topple the government there to putting American troops on the ground.
The scenarios were laid out in a letter from Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Martin Dempsey to the White House.
Dempsey cautioned that once military action is taken, deeper involvement is likely.
* Military families with autistic dependents are breathing a little easier after learning that stricter requirements to stay in government-paid care wont apply to them.
An estimated 23,000 military dependents have some degree of autism.
* The Air Force might lease land to companies to drill for oil and natural gas off California’s central coast.
Environmentalists oppose the idea. If approved, it would mark the first offshore drilling in California waters since the 1960s.
* Shoddy work by contractors in Afghanistan might have led to deaths of American troops
Government investigators have found cases where security grates were paid for but never installed or installed improperly.
