The Iraqi Rebels Didn’t Get The Memo

The Iraqi Rebels Didn’t Get The Memo

Someone seems to have forgotten to tell the Iraqis that the war is over. A recent news article reports “Even as President Barack Obama was announcing the end of combat in Iraq, American soldiers were sealing off a northern village early Wednesday as their Iraqi partners raided houses and arrested dozens of suspected insurgents. While the Obama administration has dramatically reduced the number of troops and rebranded the mission, the operation in Hawija was a reminder that U.S. forces are still engaged in hunting down and killing al-Qaida militants — and could still have to defend themselves against attacks. That reality was front and center at a change-of-command ceremony in one of Saddam Hussein’s former palaces outside Baghdad that the American military now uses as its headquarters. Officials warned of a tough road ahead as the U.S. moves into the final phase of the 7 1/2-year war.”

The “final phase”? I suppose that’s the one lasting the next 30 years.

Obama recently declared an end to US combat operations in Iraq in a nationally televised press conference, but somehow he seems to have forgotten a few things, like the 50,000 American soldiers who are still in Iraq, as well as the continued roadside bombs and shootings which indicate that after seven and a half years the Iraqi people are still resisting a foreign occupation by the US on behalf of Israel.

If anyone thinks Obama was telling the truth, the L.A. Times reports “American soldiers helped Iraqi troops battle insurgents in downtown Baghdad on Sunday, repelling a major attack in the heart of the capital five days after President Obama declared an end to U.S. combat operations. At least 18 people were killed and 39 injured in the midday attack in which a group of suicide bombers and gunmen attempted to storm the Iraqi army’s east Baghdad headquarters, located in a former Ministry of Defense building in a busy market district alongside the Tigris River. No Americans were among the casualties, said military spokesman Lt. Col. Eric Bloom. But U.S. soldiers did join in the fighting…”

And what about that huge U.S. embassy they built in Baghdad –the one four times the size of the Vatican. Is that turning into a combat headquarters for an eternity deployment in the Mid East for the US military?

Israel is a fickle mistress –or is that dominatrix. She has been demanding the head of Iran’s president, Ahmadinejad on a silver platter for some time now, and it’s a wonder that our normally obsequious politicians have not yet complied.

In the meantime, someone needs to send a memo to those Iraqi rebels to call off their victory celebrations in Baghdad, Tikrit and Fallujah and to quit attacking the police stations of our puppet government. Obama says the US has won and everything is peaceful now so please stop shooting.
