Dean Hartwell, J.D., who is well-known to readers of Veterans Today–most recently for his fine article, “The 9/11 Passenger Paradox: What happened to Flight 93?”–submitted a very straightforward piece to OpEdNews, which is edited by Rob Kall. OpEdNews, along with The Huffington Post and The Daily Kos, counts as one of the relatively few forums that publish “progressive” or “left-wing” articles and opinion pieces, which has taken a heavy hit with the sale of The Huffington Post to aol. I have dealt with Rob Kall in the past, since, before I became a columnist for Veterans Today, I had already published more than 40 articles on OpEdNews, including these on 9/11:

9/11 and the Neo-Con Agenda

New Proof of Video Fakery on 9/11
(6 comments) The strongest proofs of video fakery on 9/11 appear to be that United 175 is traveling at an impossible speed for its altitude; that the entry into the South Tower with no debris is physically impossible; that this occurs in uniform motion in violation of Newton’s laws; that the Naudet brothers’ video of AA 11 reveals “cut outs” being created by secondary explosions and that the Evan Fairbank’s video displays similar problems.

Is 9/11 Research “Anti-Semitic”?
(22 comments) Attacks upon 9/11 research have reached an extreme point where FOX host Glenn Beck has gone so far as to claim the 9/11 truth movement is a threat to the national security of the US. Comparisons with Holocaust deniers are rampant. Yet there is no basis for that analogy and the only “threat” to national security is the one posed by exposing 9/11 as having been “an inside job”, for which there is extensive and powerful proof.

More 9/11 Rubbish: This time from National Geographic, no less
(5 comments) The National Geographic Channel’s recent, “9/11: Science and Conspiracy”, is a blatant attempt to suppress and distort objective data that contradicts the official account. Its major arguments—related to the melting of steel, the controlled demolition of the Twin Towers, the use of thermite to bring them down, and the Boeing 757 hit at the Pentagon—were based upon fallacies I spent 35 years teaching students to avoid.

Birds of a Feather: Subverting the Constitution at Harvard Law
(1 comments) Cass Sunstein and Adrian Vermuele of the Harvard School of Law advocate restrictions on the First Amendment to preclude discussion of conspiracies. They have recommended that JFK assassination researchers and 9/11 truth groups should be infiltrated by government agents to subvert them and provoke them into violations of the law for which they might be arrested. They are opposing conspiracy theories by advocating a conspiracy.
Dean’s Letter of Rejection
It therefore came as somewhat of a surprise when Dean Hartwell informed me that an article of his about 9/11, “Where is the Proof of 9/11 Passengers?”, had been rejected and that, decidedly more surprisingly, he had been informed that OpEdNews was no longer accepting stories about 9/11. We have all receive letters of rejection before, but the basis for this one did not appear to have to do with the stated reason, “This article does not report or discuss anything that we consider new or that presents a different perspective”, which was clearly not the case. Discussions of this issue, like the absence of proof any of those “hijackers” were aboard any of those planes and the presence of proof that all of those “phone calls” were faked, including from Barbara Olson to her husband, Ted, then Solicitor General of the United States, have been few and far between, where some of them have even been published by OpEdNews. But the real reason for its rejection appears to have been given in the postscript, namely, that OpEdNews is no longer publishing stories about 9/11:

Indeed, Dean Hartwell, it turns out, has published even more articles with OpEdNews than have I–some 65 at last count–including at least five about 9/11, Flight 93 and the reports about its having landed in Cleveland, which is a fascinating dimension of 9/11 research, but the very clear and succinct fashion in which Dean, who has a background in the law, lays out the case for what it would take to refute the prima facie case that the passengers who were alleged to have died on 9/11 appear to be fabrications is most certainly not something that OpEdNews has ever addressed, which, considering the importance of 9/11 as the pivotal event of the 21st Century, it surely ought to have published in the interests of truth and of the American people. Road to 9/11 Truth Goes through Cleveland
(5 comments) This is an executive summary of a longer essay which contends that planes and passengers wound up in Cleveland on 9/11. There were no hijackers but instead a big lie by the plotters, who forgot to hide from public view the “smoking gun” of the crime: 200 passengers who were seen that day but never again.

In the longer interview with Paula Gloria on “Down the Rabbit Hole”, which runs less than 30 minutes, I take the opportunity to explain in addition why even Chomsky’s legendary linguistic theory, which maintains that humans have an innate, inborn syntax that is species-specific and common to every person, cannot be sustained, where other scholars have suggested instead that syntax is an emergent property of semantic complexity: as we acquire more and more names for things and predicates for their properties, we need principles of organization to make clear what we are talking about by means of nouns, pronouns, adjectives and adverbs. But if that approach is correct, as I argue in The Evolution of Intelligence: Are Humans the Only Animals with Minds?(2005) and elsewhere, then Chomsky is not only wrong about JFK and 9/11 but is not even right about his greatest claim to fame.
The Article OpEdNews Rejected
9/11 has been used to justify wars of aggression in Afghanistan and Iraq, which have taken the lives of perhaps 1,000,000 Iraqis and an estimated 3,000 coalition fatalities for the sake of oil, Israel and ideology, as I have explained in my first 9/11 article for OpEdNews, “9/11 and the Neo-Con Agenda”, which ameriafirstbooks has published in a version accompanied by political cartoon art. It has also been used to justify the suppression of civil rights here in the United States through the passage of the grossly misnamed PATRIOT ACT, the Military Commissions Act, and more recently NDAA for 2012, which Dennis Cimino and I discussed here at VT, which OpEdNews subsequently accepted but then pulled from its pages. If there is a more important issue that deserves public discussion, I cannot imagine what that would be. For any forum for public debate to cut off articles and studies that focus on 9/11 is simply outrageous–and I personally find it stunning that Rob Kall, whom I have previously admired, would follow Noam Chomsky to the Dark Side, which is powerfully exemplified by his decision to suppress submissions on 9/11 and to reject Dean’s article, which you can now read here for yourself:

To summarize these articles:
The alleged Flights 77 and 11 were never scheduled and never flew.
Flights 93 and 175 did not crash at Shanksville or the World Trade Center but instead flew to the Cleveland airport.
Though some of the names we have been given as passengers were the names of real people (such as Barbara Olson), most of the passengers used false identities.
The “passengers” were really agents of the plotters, who gave fake pictures to the media for most of the passengers.
The agents helped with the cover story in Cleveland and subsequently went to their next assignments.
The agents themselves served as the grieving relatives of the “passengers.”
How can this theory be challenged?
Real relatives of those alleged to be on the plane could tell us how they gave rides or otherwise saw off passengers at the airport gate (which people could do then). They could show pictures or newspaper articles of the passengers before 9/11.
Devil’s Advocate: The stories of going to the airport could be made up. Pictures and newspaper articles may refer to someone else with the same name.
A real relative could speak up and acknowledge having doubts about the official story and demand to know what happened to their family member.
Devil’s Advocate: Some believe that Ellen Mariani, widow of an alleged passenger on Flight 175, did just that by filing a lawsuit against the United States government and some of its representatives. She is apparently the only relative to sue in such a manner. By doing so, and give up the money offered by the government to relatives, she certainly stands out.
In her suit, she blamed the Bush administration for failing “to protect and defend against the preventable attacks based upon substantial intelligence known to Defendant GWB prior to ‘9/11’ which resulted in the death of Plaintiff’s husband and thousands of other innocent victims on ‘9/11.’”
In other words, she supported the basic structure of the official theory that “terrorists” hijacked the planes and killed the passengers. As Carol Valentine pointed out, if this lawsuit were to succeed, “there will be no more 9/11 plaintiffs to bring suits and no more chance for honest discovery. The Mother of All Conspiracy Theories, the suicide pilot fable, will be set in stone.”
The relatives’ families have had the opportunity to act like families of people who have lost someone. Typically, if there is any shred of doubt as to what happened, the relatives of victims press to find out the truth. They read up on the subject and would surely know by now the crash scenes were faked. They are the best evidence that there were no true passengers on 9/11.
