Several books have been published about Donald Trump’s presidency, but the recent book of former National Security Adviser John Bolton has sparked more interest in American and world public opinion, given the writer’s status and the nature of the information he provided.
The book – titled “The Chamber where the events took place” – describes the ignorant president with the simplest geographical facts, and his decisions go beyond his desire to hold on to his position for a second term.
Trump wonders why Bolton failed to testify at the President’s dismissal sessions, while US President Bolton described him as “incompetent” and “boring stupid”.
The White House is trying to ban the book from being published, but US media have obtained copies of it, and has begun publishing clips of its contents.
Below we look at some of the exciting claims contained in Bolton’s book.
1- Trump asks China for help for his re-election
In his book, Bolton describes a meeting between Trump and his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping on the sidelines of the G20 summit held in Japan last year.
Bolton says that the US president “transformed the conversation in a surprising way to the upcoming US presidential election (in 2020),” referring to China’s economic ability, and asked President Xi to ensure that he won that election.
“(Trump) stressed the importance of American farmers and the impact of the increase in Chinese procurement of soybeans and wheat on the election result,” he says.
It is noteworthy that the agricultural sector was one of the important sectors in the American Midwest that helped elect Trump in 2016.
2- He said that building detention camps is “a right thing”
that has caused China’s treatment of the Muslim Uighur minority to have international criticism, as it is believed that about a million members of this minority are currently detained in Xinjiang.
On Wednesday, Trump endorsed a decision to impose sanctions on Chinese officials involved in Uighurs, which angered China.
But Bolton says in his book that Trump welcomed the Chinese measures, when President Xi defended the building of those detention camps.
And he says, “According to our translator, Trump said that something has to go ahead with building the detention camps, which is what the US President described as the right thing to do.”
3- Trump “favors dictators” and
Bolton said that Trump was willing to interfere in judicial investigations “to favor the dictators he loves.”
