Subject: Shoah Website

Dear All, something serious.

A copy of the my e-mail to the Branch Committee (I haven’t sent it to anyone else) on Tuesday, which forwarded the message to us from Cllr Peter Douglas Osborne, has been posted on the website Shoah, The Palestinian Holocaust .The name of the site, and the tone of some of the content, is used against PSC and related organisations rather than furthering our cause and many say it aids the cause of those who say that those who oppose the actions of Israel are anti-semitic. The fact that our e-address is on the posting (a posting wholly unauthorised by WMPSC) now implicates us in all this, as you’ll see if you go to this weblink:

The posting needs to be taken down immediately. I’m not sure how – usually only the poster can remove an item from an open site.
As you’ll see from this item from the Jewish Chronicle of 6 January 2011, we have come to public attention re the Shoah site before:

A UK-based anti-Israel website with the web address shoah.org.uk has been described as “sickening” and “abhorrent”.Te website, called Shoah: The Palestinian Holocaust, refers to “Israhell” and uses terms such as “Zio=Nazi racists”.The site is registered to web designers Creative Spring, which gives its address as the Custard Factory, an arts and media centre in Birmingham .Creative Spring bought the domain name from an American web hosting company.A post on the Shoah website, entitled Happy New Year from Shoah, is signed by Sammi Ibrahem Sr, who describes himself as chair.Someone with the same name chaired a West Midlands Palestine Solidarity Campaign meeting in Sepember about the Gaza flotilla, and has posted several anti-Israel comments on other forums.Karen Pollock, chief executive of the Holocaust Educational Trust, said: “Using the word ‘Shoah’ in this context is done with the sole intention of causing offence to Holocaust survivors, their families and the wider Jewish community and shows the greatest possible disrespect to the tragedy of the Holocaust.”Mark Gardner, of the Community Security Trust, said: “This website is yet another sickening example of how the Holocaust is perverted by anti-Zionists in order to attack Israel and Zionism.”Jon Benjamin, chief executive of the Board of Deputies, said: “Even without delving into what is clearly a one-sided and skewed narrative, by virtue of its title, this website is extremely provocative and any trivialisation of the Holocaust in which over six million Jewish men, women, and children were systematically murdered is completely abhorrent.”Neither Mr Ibrahem nor a spokesman for the Custard Factory were available to comment.
