10 Staggering Images From the Gaza-Israel Border Violence
Videos and photos from the march have been seen around the globe with images of protest met with violence sparking outrage

A Palestinian journalist died on Saturday after being wounded by Israeli fire on Friday while covering deadly protests along the Israel-Gaza border, health officials said.
Yaser Murtaja, 30, a cameraman for Palestinian Ain Media, was the 29th Palestinian killed in the week-long protests.

Photos showed Murtaja lying wounded on a stretcher wearing a navy-blue protective vest marked ‘PRESS’ in large black capital letters. Gaza health officials said a live bullet had penetrated the side of his abdomen and he succumbed to his wounds in hospital.
The protests began on March 30 along the Israel-Gaza frontier with daily demonstrations dubbed “The Great March of Return”. Israel has stationed sharpshooters to stop attempts by Palestinians to breach the border or sabotage the security fence.
Video and photos from the march have been seen around the globe and images of protest met with violence have sparked outrage in many circles, resulting in both sides pointing the finger at the other.
Other images have gone viral as advocacy groups on both sides try to sway public opinion. The Palestinian Information Center, a news website and advocacy organization linked to Hamas was skewered for using a photo of American actress Katherine Heigl in a post about French doctors volunteering to help wounded Gazans.
In the week since the protests began on March 30, as of Friday 27 Palestinians have been shot dead, and journalists have been injured.
According to Gaza’s Health Ministry, 1,070 Palestinian protesters were wounded over the past weekend, 293 of whom by Israeli military gunfire. Twenty-five of those wounded by gunfire are in critical condition. Some 442 protesters were evacuated to hospitals in Gaza, with more treated at the scene, mainly for smoke inhalation.
