NOVANEWSHillary Clinton (L) had intensive communication through a private email with journalist Sid Blumenthal in order to receive advice over U.S. politics and foreign policy. | As the U.S. top diplomat, Hillary Clinton sought advice on high-level policy decisions from a friend with no government position using a private email. During her time as the Secretary of State, U.S. Presidential candidate Hillary Clinton had extensive communication seeking advice from U.S. journalist, analyst and friend of the Clinton family Sid Blumenthal, new emails revealed Monday night. Under orders from a judge, the State Department released a new batch of 7,000 pages of Clinton emails from 2009 and 2013, when Clinton served as the top U.S. diplomat. The new emails reveal that Clinton used her private email, rather than a more secure government email, in order to communicate with Blumenthal, who advised her on issues including domestic and foreign policy, as well as Clinton's dealings with the U.S. President Barack Obama and his aides. RELATED: The Only Article You Need to Read About the 2016 Election In 2010 Blumenthal encouraged Hillary to “rein in” David Axelrod, Obama's senior adviser, writing, “Axelrod has enough to do fixing the domestic messes he's made," and mentioning which of Clinton’s aides should deal with the White House about the issue. The extent of the advice and communication between Clinton and Blumenthal could hurt her hopes in the elections, as Blumenthal, who served as former President Bill Clinton's senior adviser, did not hold any government position when Clinton was the Secretary of the State. The State Department said Monday that around 150 of Clinton's work emails have recently been designated as containing classified information. A previous batch of emails also revealed Clinton's role in the 2009 military coup that toppled Honduran President Manuel Zelaya.
