The comments come as the Palestinian Fatah movement’s armed wing has vowed to avenge the death of a Palestinian inmate in an Israeli prison. Meanwhile the Palestinian Authority’s minister for prisoners’ affairs has said Palestinian prisoner Arafat Jaradat was tortured before he died in the Israeli jail. Late on Sunday, Issa Qaraqea revealed the results of autopsy at a press conference in the city of Ramallah in West Bank, The Guardian reported.
Press TV has conducted an interview with Mark Glenn, with the Crescent and Cross solidarity Movement from Idaho to further discuss the issue at hand. What follows is an approximate transcription of the interview.
Press TV: The case of Arafat Jaradat is not an isolated one. It shows the extent of torture and rights abuses that take place in Israeli prisons as far as Palestinians go; most of whom are detained without charge or trial. Would not you agree?
Glenn: Yes absolutely. But I think the question that we need to ask in this is, whether or not …, you have a man who was deliberately tortured and then released to the Palestinians in order to create the situation that we are seeing right now.
We know that Benjamin Netanyahu is having a very difficult time forming his government particularly the bloc of supporters that Bennett received in this last suppression that just happened to be concentrated in the very same West Bank area, where this is taking place.
So yes I agree…, Israel does this just as a matter of principle; detains people without charges, thousands of people including children, Palestinian children are being jailed with no charges.
Torture, organ harvesting, all this is true but I think that there is a bigger issue here at least involving this particular circumstance, in that Netanyahu may have done this deliberately in order to create the kinds of uprisings that are taking place right now in order to find a reason to bring all of these desperate groups that have just been elected to the Knesset together in forming a unity government.
Press TV: So basically what you are saying is that Israel is deliberately creating scenarios where Israelis are basically sent into this perpetual state of fear to bring support for certain political factions of Israel?
Glenn: Yes, that is exactly what I am saying. It is a theory of course at this point but Israelis are long known for doing things like this.
I mean it is an organically dysfunctional and fractioned state and the only way you can keep a nuthouse like this together is to have the constant threat of outside annihilation always hanging over the heads of these people and so at a time when eventually Netanyahu finds himself in the particularly difficult position of trying to form a unity government at a time when he has made himself very unpopular amongst what we call the centrist parties and the leftist parties in Israel

Something like this, I predict, is going to work very favorably for him in being able to, kind of, bringing everybody together under his umbrella …and again install himself as king of the Jewish entity.
Press TV: Right. So if we run with this theory for a bit more, Palestinians then are nothing but merely pawns in the hands of Israeli politicians who take away their lives for mere political gain?
Glenn: Yes. That is unfortunately the case and has been the case now for over 60 years. But then again why should we be surprised when you have very prominent leaders in Israel, religious leaders such as rabbi Ovadia Yosef who said that gentiles are nothing more than donkeys in human form who have been created to serve the Jewish people and other Jewish leaders over the course of the last half century that have said even more disparaging things about Palestinians; that they are grasshoppers, that they are beasts walking on two legs and that they are only …
So yes, unfortunately that more or less fits the definition.
