Academy Head rakes in £1 million of taxpayers money
Outwood Grange Academy head teacher Michael Wilkins has raked in £1 million in taxpayers money over the last 4 years.

The Wilkins has been praised by Michael Gove as an outstanding leader.
The money has been paid to a private consultancy set up by Outwood Grange, and from there to his own private company Leadership Challenge Ltd.
And this is happening before Michael Gove lets ‘for profit’ firms get hold of our schools…..

Sally Kincaid, NUT secretary in Wakefield, says
“One of the reasons we have campaigned so hard against Academies is the take away, local democratic accountabilty.  Community schools are open which salary scale their Headteachers are on. I think unions, councillors and parents should be calling a moratorium on any more schools becoming Academies, until there have been proper investigation on how much current Academy Principals earn (including their bonuses).  I suspect what has happened at Outwood Grange Academy may well be repeated in other Academies around the country”
Join the TUC March for the alternative
Saturday 26th March
The TUC is organising a national march and rally on 26 March 2011, in response to the government’s programme of fast and deep public spending cuts.
The Academies programme is a central plank in government strategy.
It is an attempt to destroy a democratic, planned, state education system and replace it with a two tier, market driven collection of independent schools at the mercy of education companies driven by profit.

Education Ministers have made it clear that they see Academies as a way to break down union influence in schools, and to end national pay bargaining and terms and conditions.
There is transport being organised from every city and town to join the demonstration.
