A new 9/11 from hell: What would you do if the U.S. power grid went down for an extended period of time?
Life is a lot more fragile than you might think as we have all been forced into population centers, remaining detached from reality

(INTELLIHUB) — Let’s take a look at how an electro-magnetic pulse (EMP) attack on the U.S. power grid, whether created intentionally or by mother nature, may kick off a shit-storm from hell as most Americans would be caught with their pants down.
In the year 1859, during solar cycle 10, a massive solar storm caused major problems on the planet earth for humans when a coronal mass ejection slammed into the earth’s magnetosphere. In fact, the solar storm was so intense that “telegraph systems all over Europe and North America failed, in some cases giving telegraph operators electric shocks. Telegraph pylons threw sparks. Some telegraph systems continued to send and receive messages despite having been disconnected from their power supplies.”, according to Wikipedia.

Now imagine the same type of event happening today, but with 90% of the U.S. population now herded into major metropolitan areas. Areas that will stand no chance without power due to people’s reliance on modern conveniences and technologies.  In fact, the byproduct from such an event would be catastrophic and almost unfathomable.
Take a moment to imagine the power going out for an extended period of time, in a city like Phoenix, during the hottest part of the summer where temperatures have been known to stretch well over 115 degrees Fahrenheit on any given day.
If such a disaster were to happen, gas pumps across the city would be shutdown, vehicles built after the year 1995 likely wouldn’t function as their computers would have been fried by the blast, no air conditioning would be operational, no forms of communication would function and water supplies would disappear off of grocery store shelves within hours. The young, elderly and people’s pets would be most vulnerable to the heat, as most modern folk would find it nearly impossible to survive for any extended period of time in such conditions.
Within about a day’s time, smaller pets and children may start falling out from heat strokes and dehydration as temperatures at night in Phoenix often remain above 105 degrees.
Planned evacuation routes out of the city would likely be halted, riddled with abandon vehicles that ran out of fuel, making an escape nearly impossible.
In all honestly, most people would likely be rendered useless without the modern conveniences of familiar technologies like iPads and such–accepting their slow wilting peril as the Internet and sites like YouTube would no longer be available to show them how to survive in such harsh environmental conditions without the modern convinces they are accustomed to.
Surprisingly, despite this known vulnerability in our nation’s power grid, Washington is failing to address the issue–instead they are likely just going to sit back and let it happen.
Some even speculate that such an attack on the U.S. power grid may be just what the establishment wants, delivering the state of martial law they have been looking for since the attacks of 2001. In fact, recently a “dry” terror run may have even been conducted at a California sub-station when 17 electrical transformers were taken out by a sniper team in less than 19 minutes. Media rhetoric surrounding the attack on the substation has now hit the mainstream–even Fox News made mention of the attack on air Friday.
